While we continue to investigate hardware devices for data storage, we have a temporary solution for keeping the visibility data on line. Currently we have 8 Gbyte disk attached to SMADATA (Ultra 60) in Cambridge. Also an 18 Gbyte disk, which will be installed at the Mauna Kea site, is being purchased. The testing data can be continually stored in these disks until the SMA data production rate grows to a critical number. However, this is only a temporary solution. In the summer of 2000, we have to make a decision for choosing hardware devices to build our mass storage system for the SMA project. Otherwise, we will face a crisis in data management
